“I love the diversity and variety of cases that working as an Emergency brings. No two shifts are ever the same and the greatest challenge is being prepared for whatever walks through the door. Working in Emergency and Critical Care also gives you the opportunity to make an enormous difference to patients’ and clients’ lives. It is a privilege to be there to help them when they need it the most.”

We are beyond excited to welcome Taleta Hompas – our new full-time Senior Veterinarian who will be joining the team from August.

Due to her husband’s military career, Taleta has been lucky enough to work in some of the best Emergency practices along the Eastern seaboard, including two years at Animal Emergency Service in Queensland. Of the 12 years Taleta has been a practicing Veterinarian, the last eight have been dedicated to emergency.

Taleta comes to us having been part owner and Director of Canberra’s Veterinary Emergency Service. However, due to family commitments is passing on that baton and relocating to Perth with her family.

Not only an experienced vet, Taleta enjoys triathlons in her spare time and has a large family of both the two-legged and four-legged kind. This includes two Bionic Border Collies, Loki and Sona, an adorable Ragdoll cat, Snow and MiniLop rabbit, Hop, as well as a non-furred, five-year-old daughter, Theia and three-year-old son, William, all of which definitely keep her busy.

“Being an emergency vet gives me the ability to have the best of both worlds. I love coming to work at night and at weekends, then I can change hats and be a mum during the day.”

Taleta thrives on the variety, complexity and minute-to-minute challenges that emergency medicine brings, and loves the opportunity to help animals and their humans when they are most in need. Her other interests include diagnostic imaging, specifically ultrasound, and is completing her Membership Examination in Emergency Medicine this year.

The vast experience and expertise Taleta brings with her is a welcomed addition to our Senior Veterinarian team.

Taleta loves being a part of a compassionate and committed team and is really looking forward to joining us. Welcome Taleta!
