Dr Oisin Tracey

Emergency Veterinarian

Three things Dr Oisin Tracey has always loved are art, animals and science. He commenced art school after highschool but realised very quickly it wasn’t for him so he followed his other two passions to veterinary medicine.

Dr Tracey graduated from the University College of Dublin, Ireland. He completed elective periods in Tufts University, Boston and took the trek over to Australia to commence with Perth Vet Emergency. He enjoys working with diagnostic imaging. “Whether looking at a bird’s wing on radiographs or a beating heart on ultrasound, I find the images absolutely stunning. There is also a real skill required in using ultrasound machines and interpreting radiographs. Sometimes you have to identify very subtle changes to make a diagnosis which can make or break a medical case.”

Since commencing at PVE, Dr Tracey very quickly settled in becoming a valued member of the close-knit team. He enjoys working at PVE because of the collaborative environment and strong focus on patient care as well as learning. “As a recent graduate, it means the world that I have support from seasoned emergency vets like Dr Seet, Dr Addison and Dr Pattison who already have their memberships in Emergency & Critical Care. Veterinary medicine is a career requiring continuous learning and this is very proactive at PVE.”

Oisin enjoys being very active in his spare time. He has started Muay Thai kick-boxing since moving to WA. He also enjoys going to the gym and swimming. When relaxation is on the cards, he makes the most of his annual membership to Perth Zoo visiting at least once a month.

He has a dog and cat at home in Ireland who he misses immensely. Cavti, a beautiful Dalmatian, is the family dog who loves to go camping with Oisin’s parents. Matilda is a feisty little cat Oisin strongly considered bringing to Australia but she loves Cavti and has a great quality of life in Ireland. “When I Skype home, my parents are sure who I really want to see!”
